The Well of Elantris

A single, deep well inside Elantris whose shaft opens onto the underground course of the Aredel river. The river runs the length of Elantris underground, surfaces past the wall, and flows on past Iadon's palace in Kae — making the well a one-way escape no living person could survive but a dead Elantrian can.
