hovercity
A ramshackle floating city on this world that is in fact not one vehicle but hundreds — a caravan of individual hoverships of every size, each carrying a single building on its deck, that lock together along their wide flat decks to form streets when assembled and disassemble into independent craft when their group needs to scatter, fight, or perform. The whole assembly is lifted thirty or forty feet off the ground by the combined burn of every ship's engines. STD:TSM:Ch 3
A ramshackle floating city that the hovercycle group from the execution field returns to — an enormous plate of single-story buildings lifted thirty or forty feet off the ground by the burn of hundreds of engines beneath it. From a distance it looks less like a metropolis than a desperate slum hauled into the air. The hovercycles dock by locking sideways into its edge with their engines still running, adding their thrust to the city's lift. STD:TSM:Ch 2 superseded at STD:TSM:Ch 3
