Right of Challenge
An ancient Alethi dueling tradition, said by some to have been instituted by the Heralds. A lighteyed warrior who has won a great victory before the Almighty and the king may claim a king's boon in the form of a challenge against another lighteyes who has wronged him, with that man's Shards forfeit if he loses; the challenged party may appoint a champion to fight in his stead. SA:WoR:Ch 55
Relations
- relatedKing's Boon — Shallan's plan threads the two arena customs together: a successful duelist may name any boon of the king, and a wronged highlord may invoke the right-of-challenge — a duel to the death — against another highlord. SA:WoR:Ch 55
