A wall of solid blue Stormlight that expands from the crystal pillar when Navani infuses the great sapphire Melishi left embedded in a hidden chamber. It walls Raboniel off from the pillar and prevents anyone — human, Unmade, or singer — from reaching the Sibling; it also walls off the trapped construction the assault was meant to break. - extrapolation-of-soulcastingThe Sibling explains the shield to Navani as an extrapolation of the Surge of Soulcasting — it solidifies the air across a region by persuading it that it is glass — and must be fed continuously by external sources of Stormlight. Four nodes — crystals connected directly to the Sibling's heart — power it; Navani destroyed one in activating the shield, leaving three. Destroying another weakens the shield; destroying them all would drop it. If Raboniel finds one she can use it instead to corrupt the Sibling from outside.SA:RoW:Ch 49
- shield-is-perpetual-half-soulcastingRaboniel determines that the blue shield around the crystal pillar is a kind of perpetual half-Soulcasting — the fabrial persuades the air in a sphere around the pillar that it is solid glass and holds it in stasis, modeled on a glass globe wired into each node.
