Spanreed Hub

The administrative pattern by which a highlord or highlady maintains many spanreeds without losing track of any of them: a central room of attendants who watch a wall of paired reeds, sift the incoming messages, and pass important reports up the chain. Disparate outposts — guard posts, scout balconies, perimeter patrols — keep one half of each pair and dictate into them; the spanreeds themselves live in the hub. SA:RoW:Ch 58
