Ancient Guardians of Akinah

The mature, full-grown form of the species Chiri-Chiri belongs to — fearsome beasts the size of chasmfiends whose carapace skulls now line the great vaulted corridor under Akinah. Nikli tells Rysn they once guarded the Dawnshard kept here; their kind is now all but extinct, and the Sleepless have taken up their role. The Sleepless long believed the last of them had died and that the few inferior hordeling bloodlines they had bred with them — which give the Sleepless some power to negate Stormlight — were all that remained. Chiri-Chiri is the third surviving larkin they now know of, and the only one that has grown mature enough to return to this place. SA:DS:Ch 19
