The Alethi battalionlord Sigzil inherits overseeing the defence of Narak — green-eyed, not much older than Sigzil himself, promoted from lieutenant inside the last year and a half. Initially baffled by Sigzil's plan to deliberately build failure points into the plateau defence, he takes the briefing on board fast and is appointed head of ground defences for the coming Everstorm assault.
