Dragons

Long-lived beings whose name has spread through nearly every society the narrator has visited — not, he says, by natural linguistics but by the dragons' own design, interacting with cultures during their formative years so that they are known and feared. Most people in the cosmere will never meet one, let alone see one in its natural form, but the dragons like to keep a number of easily-influenced cultures around for the proverbial rainy day.
