Hmask
A bearded Thaylen foreign volunteer, long white eyebrows and a white moustache, who fought in the Azimir defence and stood squarely between Abidi the Monarch and Adolin when the Fused had him down. Specifically loyal to Adolin for reasons no one can ask about — he speaks no Alethi — and is formally inducted into the Cobalt Guard in the aftermath. SA:WaT:Ch 42

- SA:WaT:Ch 52 Arrives at the pavilion with the scribe's report just as the predicted enemy attack begins.
- SA:WaT:Ch 63 Refuses to be off-shift; follows Adolin all the way through the enemy fortification and is found grinning at his back.
- SA:WaT:Ch 76 Through Yanagawn's Thaylen, tells Adolin that the boy he half-remembers saving from a thunderclast at Thaylen Field was Hmask's son.
- SA:WaT:Ch 84 Bloodied along one eyebrow, the Thaylen man helps Adolin to his feet and reminds him why he matters — the spark that gets Adolin onto Gallant and after the monster.
