The No-Confidence Clause
also known as the no-confidence clause, the kingdom's no-confidence clause
A clause in the legal code Elend Venture wrote for his Central Dominance kingdom. By majority vote, the Assembly can formally declare itself no longer confident in the king and depose him. The provision was deliberate on Elend's part — meant to ensure no Final Empire–style tyranny could grow up under his own descendants — and on the night of his return from his parley with Straff is invoked against him by signature of all twenty-three sitting assemblymen.
