Sergeant Rial
A drawling Bridge Thirteen spearman assigned to Dalinar's guard, clean-shaven and lazy of expression but capable of a parade-ground salute — fond of rolling a sphere across his knuckles and of questioning his highprince once, then claiming it doesn't count as a habit if you've only done it the one time. Describes himself as a new man, reborn in the bridge crews. SA:OB:Ch 16
Events
- SA:OB:Ch 16 First appears walking Dalinar back from the corridors, mock-scolding him for being out alone after he himself ordered nobody go anywhere alone. Counts off the start of Dalinar's wrestling match with Aratin Khal and the duel with Kadash.
- SA:OB:Ch 58 Stands rear guard at the Urithiru Oathgate platform, salutes Dalinar more than necessary on principle, and submits his canteen for the latest alcohol inspection while keeping the actual flask buttoned into his right leg pocket.
- SA:OB:Ch 59 Approaches the duelling ring with Dalinar's guards as Fen's son readies his longsword, is waved back, and afterwards swears with the others the oath Kdralk demanded — that if the duel goes badly for Dalinar none of them will call the result an assassination.
- SA:OB:Ch 100 Trails Dalinar through Vedenar with the other guards, and when Dalinar begins to crack offers him a canteen of strong drink — the very thing he had ordered his guards not to carry.
