He and a remnant of the guard refused Queen Aesudan's orders after she killed an ardent and executed Brightlord Kaves, and were locked in the palace garrison until Adolin's assault cut them loose — bearded, hungry, and convinced only a few days had passed when in fact it had been weeks.
