Undertext

Vorin convention by which the wife (or ardent) scribing a man's dictated book adds her own clarifications — or contradictions — in a small cramped script along the bottom of each page. By unspoken agreement the undertext is never read aloud, preserving honest scholarly correction. SA:WoK:Ch 36
