The Grand Indicium
The central archive-fortress of Yeddaw — a rounded stone bunker squatting at the highest point of the city, around which all the slot-streets curl. Where Tashikki scribes store the endless reports, ledgers, and inquiries that flow in and out of the country. SA:ED:Ch 11
Known facts
- built-as-a-fortress-for-stormsThe Grand Indicium sits at what was the highest point of the ground that became Yeddaw; the city was carved down around it and the land sloped further away on every side, leaving the rounded bunker isolated. Sloped ramp-paths spiral up to its entrances. The result is a hardened archive that storms slide past, with Tashikki crowds streaming in and out from below.SA:ED:Ch 12
Events
- SA:ED:Ch 11 Seen for the first time — a rounded stone bunker at the highest point of Yeddaw, visible above the trench-tops, ringed by a deep cut in the rock so storms slide past it. Lift picks it out as the place a city of writers would hoard its writings.
- SA:ED:Ch 12 Seen up close from the field-rim above Yeddaw — the streets curl in toward it, a deep ring has been cut around the bunker, and crowds of Tashikki flow in and out by spiral walkways.
- SA:ED:Ch 13 Interior — corridors of windowless alcoves, parshman porters wheeling boxes of paper to scribes surrounded by blinking spanreeds, and the senior chamber where Ghenna handles Azir liaison work.
- SA:ED:Ch 14 The senior chamber where the scribes pile reports of city oddities around Lift for hours; later, the half-lit back corridors of drawered paper where almost none of the sphere-lanterns are infused, the rest of the building still starvin' for Stormlight.
- SA:ED:Ch 15 Half-evacuated by the prince's diktat — Ghenna's chamber on her way out, then two storeys up to a wooden-floored corridor of project rooms where Bidlel's team had been working, the building going quieter by the minute as everyone clears out.
