Hauka
An Azish captain of the guard at one of the upper checkpoints into Yeddaw — credentials certified by an Azimir vizier, qualifications short of battlefield command. Wears breastplate, cap, and a cloak embroidered with her family-and-studies pattern; methodical, observant, and inclined to find a quiet civil-code solution to a problem rather than a violent one. Events
- SA:ED:Ch 7 Walks home from her shift at the upper checkpoint with shoulders slumped from a rough day, opens a top-floor window of her tenement for air, and receives Darkness in the morning to give her statement about the slippery, glowing child.
- SA:ED:Ch 13 The captain from the upper checkpoint who debriefed earlier in the day — recognises Lift by description, leads the rush into the interview room, and pins her down briefly before the imperial spanreed message overrides everything.
- SA:ED:Ch 14 Brings in the quarter-watch report on the Stump's suspected money-laundering, ignores Lift's suggestions of bribery and extortion, and promises the orphanage matter will be moved on soon by colleagues with the right jurisdiction.
- SA:ED:Ch 20 On duty at the ramp out of Yeddaw processing the refugees the storm has produced, the guard captain very nearly jumps out of her boots when Lift reappears. She receives a pancake and watches in silence as the Radiant she nearly arrested moves down the line breathing Stormlight over wound after wound.
