Reachers
also known as lightspren
A variety of spren native to Shadesmar who manifest as human-shaped figures with bronze, metallic skin and large childlike metal eyes. They wear actual human-style jackets and trousers, work in mixed-gender crews without obvious gender roles, and run the Shadesmar shipping trade out of cities like Celebrant. Their ships are pulled by harnessed mandras, and they touch copper plates worked into the decks to communicate without speaking. Syl identifies them to Kaladin as *lightspren* on his side. Known facts
- reacher-spren-bear-children-rarelyBy Syl's account, spren bear children only rarely — most go hundreds of years without it. Power coalesces somewhere, parts of it become aware, and a parent returns with a child; aging and learning work very differently in Shadesmar.SA:OB:Ch 102
Events

- SA:RoW:Ch 35 Notum's three Reacher attendants are bound and lined up in a row beside him in the centre of the mob — perhaps next to suffer torture.
- SA:RoW:Ch 36 Notum's three Reacher attendants — released from the Tukari ropes — keep silent vigil around their captain.
- SA:RoW:Ch 115 A little Reacher in the shape of a comet flies up from the grass to circle Venli's hand; later spins around Jaxlim and slips into her gemheart, the start of a Radiant bond for an order whose Ideal is freedom.
