His right hand has been of little use to him since, but his people respect him for the act. STD:FWH:Ch 20 Holds court at his manor table with a dark-haired woman at his side and a mug in his good hand; greets the bursting-in wizard with delight, demands more tricks, and lets slip that Ulric is at Maelport expecting visitors from another world in three days and that he threw the boy in the pit by the compost heap.
STD:FWH:Ch 21 Watches the showdown between John and Quinn from his table with mounting delight, asking once if the outlander's powers ought to worry them and otherwise treating the exchange as entertainment; declines to lead John to the changeling prisoner, then notices the shouting from the courtyard and rises to investigate.
STD:FWH:Ch 22 Pushes his hearthmen at the fight at first, laughing, axe out himself; watches Ealstan come back from a clear deathblow and the manic edge leaves him for something steadier. Offers his palm to be cut and healed, gets the use of his old nailed hand back as a bonus, names his seven dead sons aloud, and bids the wizard go kill Ulric — but punch me first, for the story.
