Deepest Ones
also known as makay-im, Those Ones of the Depths
A brand of Fused — makay-im, *Those Ones of the Depths* — long-armed and long-legged with smooth skin and only minimal carapace over head and groin, displaying vibrant patterns along their sinuous bodies. They wear open-fronted robes when they wear anything at all. Their eyes glow a darker, more sinister red than other Fused, and they wield the Surge of Cohesion — sinking ankle-deep into solid stone and gliding through it as if standing perfectly still while the ground bears them along. Events
- SA:RoW:Ch 31 Roughly thirty of the makay-im glide alongside the column, feet sunken into the obsidian as if the stone itself carries them.
- SA:RoW:Ch 37 A scout glides up sunken into the rock to report the entry; she and her companions strip and sink through the ground like swimmers into a dark sea to clear the route.
- SA:RoW:Ch 38 A scout opens the worked stone door from inside the basement; others kill silently from the ceiling and floor, knife-fingernailed hands slitting throats one by one.
- SA:RoW:Ch 42 Reach hands out of the stairwell walls to push men and trip ankles; some lose disembodied arms to the soldiers on the wall side.
- SA:RoW:Ch 56 Four of them meet Venli on the second floor and complain that the tower's interference renders their usual tools — secretspren, embedded listening — useless, then ask her where a mortal might hide a node. Working from her hint about a Radiant-accessible location near the storm's reach, they cross the atrium toward the great window to search outside the eastern wall.
- SA:RoW:Ch 72 One of Raboniel's Fused watches outside Navani's door alongside the human guard, silent and unanswering through the long wait.
- SA:RoW:Ch 97 Flow up through the walls after the desk explodes to investigate; Raboniel waves them off and they carry the wounded servant away.
- SA:WaT:Ch 123 A dozen rise briefly from the stone floor of the temple at Taravangian's gesture — eyes too large, bodies too spindly, knife-like fingernails — the strike team he had ready to murder the loyalist members of the Thaylen Council, then sink back into the ground.
