The Contract
also known as kandra Contract, the kandra Contract
The agreement that binds the kandra to Harmony's direction in the post-Catacendre era. Harmony tells Wax that the moment a kandra breaks Contract he is permitted to seize them directly through their twin Blessings — and that he would have already done so to Bleeder but for the second spike she has removed. MB2:SoS:Ch 7
The binding agreement under which every kandra serves a single human master at a time. The Contract forbids the kandra from killing humans, and most of OreSeur's kind read it as forbidding any action that helps a human kill — a stricter reading OreSeur notes is not what the actual words say. Breach is judged by the kandra themselves, with execution by their own people as the standard penalty. The kandra chose this voluntary servitude over what their elders feared would otherwise be forced slavery to mankind. MB1:WoA:Ch 40 superseded at MB2:SoS:Ch 7
