Skipping
also known as Skip, Skipped
A means of crossing between cosmere planets that Nomad uses to outrun the Night Brigade. A Skip is paid for in Investiture measured as Breath Equivalent Units; the further the jump, the more it costs. Arriving on a new world, Nomad does not know where he is and has no control over the destination beyond reaching the threshold to leave. STD:TSM:Ch 1
Known facts
- grow-aux-costs-investitureAuxiliary can be temporarily enlarged — a five-foot riot shield, for example — but the expansion is not permanent and leeches Skip capacity continuously while held. - eight-percent-after-elegy-fightDrops to just over eight percent capacity remaining after Nomad absorbs Elegy's beating in his quarters; Aux continues to call out the Skip-reserve number with every drain, which Nomad hates hearing — back when he merely had a general sense of how much power he had left, life felt more vibrant than it does now as a machine with a measured power source.STD:TSM:Ch 25
Events
- STD:TSM:Ch 52 Triggered the moment the dawn breaks over the unconscious Cinder King — at well over one hundred percent capacity, the most generously fuelled jump Zellion has launched on this world.
