Solemnity Divine
Beacon's head of repairs and engineering — tan-skinned with long black hair, Alethi-looking in everything but her Threnodite name. She gathers her team around Nomad's steam-conversion schematics, declares the design genius, and starts immediately marking corrections on it; with another fifteen people under her she takes over the work of making it actually fly. Events
- STD:TSM:Ch 23 Leads her engineering huddle at the edge of the deck over Nomad's schematics, declares the design genius, and immediately starts pencilling in corrections. Negotiates the ship-airtightening plan with him and accepts the duty of pressing the Greater Good for permission to scrap most of the city.
- STD:TSM:Ch 26 Runs the prototype tests on the deck — three engines, two explosions, one ascent — and pivots straight into the question of how to insulate the water-carrier ships against the cold of altitude. Takes Nomad's correction (worry about heat, not cold) on faith and goes back to her drafting table.
- STD:TSM:Ch 27 On the deck under a tent — all the buildings being either jettisoned or packed with people — pushes back that the team needs another iteration before fabricating the boilers. Nomad talks her off it: modify what they know works, no time to redesign. The variable-inhibitor patch on the water line gets a forehead-slap from her: such an easy fix. She accepts and starts the build.
- STD:TSM:Ch 41 On the radio, warning that the cannon volley has gutted the sunhearts.
- STD:TSM:Ch 47 Catches the sunheart Zellion tosses her, runs off to shave a sliver and install it in the Dawnchaser, then flies the ship over to him so he can leave the dome and fly to Union.
