the Dawnchaser
Elegy's personal vessel within Beacon — a small ship with a few rooms, a wide deck, and a bulbous cab near the back. She had it reinforced against the heat and pressure of the great maelstrom so she could chase sunhearts across the boundary into the sunlight before the Cinder King's crews could reach them. The ship was originally a prospector; its underside houses a survey rig that lets it sense buried Investiture. With Elegy gone Charred the work was abandoned. Contemplation assigns the ship to Nomad as his quarters on Beacon. STD:TSM:Ch 26

- STD:TSM:Ch 26 Pointed out to Nomad at the edge of the central Beacon cluster — wide deck, bulbous cab, the reinforced ship Elegy had meant to drive into the great maelstrom. Contemplation assigns it to him as his home for the ascent.
- STD:TSM:Ch 29 Locked onto the very top of the hub for the ascent. Sealed (as best can be done in the time available) so Nomad can run the flight without depressurising every time he opens the door. Her cab rotates so Nomad can swing his view between the sun-side horizon and the mountains ahead; her prospector rig underneath is idle.
- STD:TSM:Ch 31 Sits atop Beacon's hub, fully decompressed in Nomad's absence. He climbs back into it through the door and works the restart switch from its control panel.
- STD:TSM:Ch 47 Now powered by a sliver of the Refuge's sunheart, Solemnity Divine flies the Dawnchaser over to Zellion at the dome's mouth so he can take off for Union.
- STD:TSM:Ch 51 Visible on the command monitors as a smouldering wreck on the ground below — confirmed by the bridge crew as no longer flightworthy, sealing Zellion's last escape route.
