The folk term in the twelve seas for a person who somehow carries living spores inside their body. Spore eaters are dreaded and rumoured; ordinary sailors know of them mostly as the explanation for stories about people who cannot be killed by ordinary means. STD:Tress:Ch 26

Long-term survival therefore requires the patient to remain in residence with the dragon — a detail Xisis did not mention to Crow in advance.
