The Twelve Seas
The twelve named spore seas of Tress's world, each fed by one of the twelve moons and yielding spores of a distinct colour. The Verdant, Sapphire and Rose are the ordinary trade waters; the Crimson and Midnight are the two no sane captain sails. Fort insists a thirteenth kind exists — bone spores, white or black depending on the teller — but most sailors call that legend rather than fact. STD:Tress:Ch 22
Known facts
- shaped-as-pentagonsEvery one of Tress's world's seas is roughly pentagonal in outline, a fact the narrator mentions in passing when Salay's only available chart of the Midnight Sea is too rough to be detailed but at least has the right shape.STD:Tress:Ch 41
