Heavenly Ones
also known as shanay-im
The flying variety of the Fused — *Those Ones of the Heavens*, *shanay-im* in their own tongue — who duel Windrunners over the battlefields in trailing robes. The first variety Kaladin became familiar with; six others have appeared in the year since. SA:RoW:Ch 2
Known facts
- one-on-one-protocolPrefer one-on-one duels in small skirmishes, proffering spears as challenge; Kaladin has learned to use the protocol to keep his lower-ranked Windrunners alive, though when grouped under a different leader they will swarm instead.SA:RoW:Ch 5
- command-shadesmar-beads-with-voidlightThe Shadesmar beads, which dislike the Fused's light, obey them when they hold it — the same way the beads obey a Lightweaver who holds Stormlight. Abidi the Monarch uses this to part the beads into a sealed cave around himself and his prisoner.SA:WaT:Ch 9
Events
- SA:RoW:Ch 42 Hover around the cylindrical stairwell, find holes in the broken shield wall, and finish the slaughter from above.
- SA:RoW:Ch 47 Only four spotted overhead, watching the field and relaying orders rather than engaging — Dalinar notes the bulk must be elsewhere with the main enemy force.
- SA:RoW:Ch 106 Descend to the atrium floor one by one in silent vigil for the kneeling Kaladin. One blocks his pursuit up the lift shafts and is broken; another holding Lirin flees to the pinnacle, then throws him into the storm.
- SA:RoW:Ch 107 Hover at Leshwi's side in the atrium as the slaughter of civilians begins; one is sent to ask Raboniel for authority to countermand the Pursuer's order.
- SA:RoW:Ch 109 Five of them turn on the Pursuer's soldiers with Leshwi, fly in support of the rebellion, and each carry a wounded soldier when Rlain orders the withdrawal to the Oathgates.
- SA:WaT:Ch 8 A patrol of eight ambushes the Windrunner escort over the bead ocean and engages full-out, atypical for their kind.
- SA:WaT:Ch 9 Two of them erupt from the beads next to the platform, having used the ocean for cover, and grab Shallan before dragging her under.
- SA:WaT:Ch 67 Patrol the perimeter on Voidlight wings, keeping the Elsegate hidden from human scouts.
