Eshonai
also known as Parshendi Shardbearer
The lone Parshendi Shardbearer who has avoided plateau runs since the Tower. On the joint Roion/Ruthar plateau, Adolin confronts her and learns that under the silvery, peaked Plate is a woman who speaks Alethi well enough to ask, by name, to meet with Dalinar — claiming to have met him long ago — and promises to send a messenger. SA:WoR:Ch 26
A Parshendi warrior in gleaming Plate whom Dalinar glimpses through a spyglass standing at the edge of a neighbouring plateau, watching but not joining the day's fight. Dalinar recognizes the figure as the same Shardbearer who nearly killed him at the Tower. SA:WoR:Ch 8 superseded at SA:WoR:Ch 26
A Parshendi Shardbearer, leader on the battlefield against the Alethi. POVs the betrayal at the Tower from the Parshendi side, and is uneasy at how readily her people sing the sounds of war. SA:WoK:Ch 68 superseded at SA:WoR:Ch 8
Known facts
- requests-parley-with-dalinarAfter Adolin and Jakamav climb the cut-in-half plateau to find the chrysalis already harvested, the Parshendi Shardbearer hands the gemheart to a runner who leaps the chasm with it, then asks Adolin where Dalinar is, says she met him long ago, and promises to send a messenger. Adolin swallows the Thrill and lets her go.SA:WoR:Ch 26
- declares-war-rules-changedConfronting the man in Dalinar's Plate across an open plateau, Eshonai tells him the war's terms have just been rewritten — squabbling over gemhearts is over — and that peace will come only when one side is dead. She came partly to see him, partly to warn him. She names her people's intent without naming what it is.SA:WoR:Ch 51
- duels-adolin-in-the-stormEshonai in her new Shardplate catches Adolin from behind on the southern plateau, smashes a glowing crack across his breastplate, and meets him in a Shardblade duel through the storm.SA:WoR:Ch 83
- cast-off-stormform-before-deathTimbre reveals to Venli that Eshonai was no longer the spren's at the moment she died: she broke free of stormform on her own and was herself again at the end — proof, Venli insists to Thude, that the corruption *can* be fought.SA:WaT:Ch 72
- approved-the-dullform-spy-programIn the listeners' Narak war council Rlain relives, Eshonai in Plate hums Consideration over Thude's proposal, then — as the only one of the leaders willing to send Rlain into danger as a general must — approves a single-spy trial run, beginning with a visit to a human lumber operation upriver.SA:WaT:Ch 79
Events
- SA:WoK:Ch 68 POV — surveys the Tower and reflects on the Alethi's strange war and the Parshendi response
- SA:WaT:Ch 79 In Shardplate at the old Narak war council, pacing and approving the trial spy mission.
- SA:WoR:Ch 51 Crosses to the meeting plateau with two hundred Parshendi, names herself to the man she takes for Dalinar, declares the war's terms rewritten, and tells him why her people killed Gavilar.
- SA:WoR:Ch 83 Catches Adolin from behind in the rain with Shardblade and Shardplate, cracks his breastplate, and squares off to fight him through the storm.
- SA:WoR:Ch 84 Names Adolin *destroyer*, takes the swing she has been baited into, and falls over the plateau's edge into the chasm.
- SA:WoR:Ch 8 Watching from a neighbouring plateau through Dalinar's spyglass, not committed to the battle.
- SA:WoR:Ch 26 Seven feet tall in silvery, peaked Plate over carapace, a red cloak behind her; she has just cut the gemheart free of the chrysalis when Adolin climbs the tier, and faces him long enough to ask in accented Alethi where Dalinar is.

- foreshadowsDalinar Kholin — The silvery, peaked-armored Parshendi Shardbearer asks Adolin, by name, to arrange a parley with Dalinar, claiming to have met him long ago — the request sets up a meeting central to the book's politics. SA:WoR:Ch 26
