Lord Renoux
The persona Kelsier inserted at the head of a western Great House convoy as cover for the crew's Luthadel operations. The body was a kandra under contract; after the Ministry's raid on the convoy and the Inquisitor's axe to his back, the kandra plays dead, leaves the persona behind, and switches to Kelsier's bones to appear to the skaa as the martyred Survivor. The man living in Mansion Renoux as Lord Renoux is in fact a kandra — a shapeshifting creature that has taken the dead lord's bones and walks the world wearing his exact appearance. Kelsier's plant in the noble system, the kandra treats the role of Lord Renoux simply as who he now is. MB1:TFE:Ch 19 superseded at MB1:TFE:Ch 35
A Western high nobleman from the Farmost Dominance, lately arrived in Fellise to expand his mercantile interests northward. Lord Renoux is in fact a long-standing asset of Kelsier's crew, brought into the noble system to serve some long-term plan, and under no circumstances is to come near an Inquisitor. A western noble Kelsier mentions in passing while talking to the skaa of Tresting's plantation. Renoux is said to have ordered his overseers to stop unauthorised beatings, and there is rumour that he is even considering paying wages to his plantation skaa. Events
- MB1:TFE:Ch 8 Receives Kelsier and Vin at the top of his hall steps and re-plans Vin's cover when "heir" turns out to be too conspicuous.
- MB1:TFE:Ch 13 Sits in on the post-ball debrief at the manor and weighs in that Elend Venture is a court eccentric whose interest in Lady Valette is best read as performance.
- MB1:TFE:Ch 16 Waits outside the carriage to hand "Lady Valette" down himself and plays the doting uncle without breaking character to ask after Vin's wounds.
- MB1:TFE:Ch 17 Plays uncle and host at lunch on the garden balcony with Vin, then sits in on the crew meeting that follows.
- MB1:TFE:Ch 19 Sits with the others as they debrief; when Kelsier marvels at how he plays the part of a Great House lord so seamlessly, the kandra answers simply that it is who he is now.
- MB1:TFE:Ch 20 Stands beside Kelsier in the courtyard surveying the loading, reminding Vin to curtsey where the new servants can see them.
- MB1:TFE:Ch 29 Sits in the corner during the meeting in his own office, keeping out of the planning beyond what his kandra contract requires.
- MB1:TFE:Ch 33 In one of the prison carts at the back of the convoy when Kelsier arrives at the crossroads.
- MB1:TFE:Ch 34 Freed from his cart; the Inquisitor buries an axe in his back and he falls to the cobblestones — the kandra catches Kelsier's nod and lies still to play dead.
- MB1:TFE:Ch 35 Speaks once more in Renoux's voice from the back of the warehouse before the kandra steps forward in Kelsier's face.
