An elderly, sharp-eyed Arelene duke and one of Raoden's circle who held the conspiracy together; killed in Kiin's kitchen on the night the conspiracy was betrayed, run through by one of Telrii's soldiers. EL:EL:Ch 53
One of Raoden's circle in Kae — remembered by the prince as one who might hold his clandestine group of nobles together in his absence. EL:EL:Ch 4 superseded at EL:EL:Ch 53

- EL:EL:Ch 11 Tries to bar Sarene from the meeting, is outmanoeuvred, and after the others leave admits to her — over wine — that her plan probably gives Arelon a few extra months it would otherwise not have.
- EL:EL:Ch 14 Greets Sarene with affectionate impudence and warns her that Telrii's sudden good fortune is not pure luck — there is something between the duke and the gyorn.
- EL:EL:Ch 20 Plays foil at the chapel-garden meeting — knowing already what Hrathen is up to, he prompts Sarene to walk the lords through the Fjordell case against Iadon herself and warns her that her usual subterfuge will not get her into Elantris.
- EL:EL:Ch 22 Among the nobles at Sarene's cart in the Elantris courtyard, picked out from the rooftop by Raoden as the most powerful man in the kingdom after the king.
