An unpopulated sea of red spores between the Verdant Sea and the Midnight Sea — only slightly less deadly than the latter, and the route any ship would have to take to reach the Sorceress. STD:Tress:Ch 5

- rain-is-walls-of-spinesAt the Crimson border Tress witnesses what Crow's lecture had described in the abstract: a knot of fast-moving cloud trails a ribbon of rain across the sea, and where the ribbon touches the crimson spores a wall of red spines erupts and locks together with a clack audible from a great distance. The wall stands some thirty feet tall before slumping and being eaten back into the sea.
