A burly former house-servant who became the de-facto ruler of Vetitan when its lord and his soldiers abandoned the town. Has kept seven thousand skaa together through two years of pressed planting, bribed press-gangs, and a hand-built earthen bulwark, and is bracing for a koloss army he expects to be massacred by. Events
- MB1:HoA:Ch 3 Stays close to Elend through the assault, gets wounded in the shoulder, and is the one who cries that they are doomed just before he sees Vin drop out of the sky.
- MB1:HoA:Ch 5 Comes down into the cellar with them, sees the cavern of stored food his town has been starving above for years, briefly tries to argue that the supplies belong to his people, and is talked down by Elend into accepting protection in exchange for vassalage.
- MB1:HoA:Ch 8 Approaches Vin and Elend in the mist-shrouded camp, shaken by what he has just helped do to his own people, and asks aloud what kind of men they have become. Then accepts Elend's order to make a count of the dead.
- MB1:HoA:Ch 8 Dismounts with Elend at the canal camp and is handed off to Demoux for the escort north to Luthadel and an introduction to Lord Penrod. Elend offers any soldiers he trained the chance to volunteer into the empire's army.
