Masked Vanisher Leader
also known as Masked Vanisher Leader
The hooded, Roughs-hatted man who leads the Vanishers in person at the Yomen-Ostlin wedding robbery. Calm and controlled, with a faint Roughs accent and an ideology of payback against city wealth; his voice strikes Wax as eerily familiar. MB2:AoL:Ch 5
A lawkeeper Wax knows out in the Roughs, named in passing as someone who has saved his life and who keeps his town clean — albeit, in Wayne's estimation, by shooting first and asking questions never. MB2:AoL:Prologue superseded at MB2:AoL:Ch 5
Known facts
- gold-compounder-twinbornIs a Twinborn gold Allomancer and gold Feruchemist — a Compounder who burns stored health from his goldmind to heal at ten times the rate of an ordinary Bloodmaker. He keeps the healing running constantly, never sickens, and is — for practical purposes — immortal so long as he has gold.MB2:AoL:Ch 11
- fifteen-years-true-madilSpent fifteen years as the lawkeeper of True Madil before coming to Elendel. In his telling, the work never made the Roughs any better because the rot was at the heart of the city; that is the conviction that pushed him over to the Vanishers.MB2:AoL:Ch 11
- wears-thirty-gold-metalmind-spikesWears something on the order of thirty separate gold metalminds at once — bolt-like spikes driven into the flesh of each forearm, hard for a Steelpusher to touch, each loaded with enough stored health to bring him back from practically any wound. He keeps the Compounded healing running constantly; stopping it can be very dangerous.MB2:AoL:Ch 13
- gold-misting-augurHis Allomantic half is the gold Misting — an Augur. He usually ignores that side of himself, leaning on his Feruchemy for daily life; when he does burn gold, a second self stands beside him — the man he was in the Roughs confronting the man he has let himself become — and each version despises the other.MB2:AoL:Ch 15
- captureCaptured alive in the tunnel beneath the Ironspine Building by a force of more than a hundred constables Wayne led in under a speed bubble held by Marasi — beaten down by clubs, bound, and gagged.MB2:AoL:Ch 19
- deathExecuted by firing squad in Elendel after a short trial led by the prosecutor Daius in which he denied none of his crimes. The first volleys could not kill him — a hidden last Bloodmaker charge kept healing him for several rounds — until the metalmind ran out and a constable finished him with three handgun rounds to the head.MB2:AoL:Epilogue
- trell-prophecyUsed his last breaths on the firing platform to deliver a Trellish prophecy at the squad: a foretold conqueror-people, their banner gold and crimson, armed with the final metal, would one day claim the world. He charged the watching crowd to give Trell their worship in the meantime.MB2:AoL:Epilogue
Events
- MB2:AoL:Ch 12 Stands masked in the next railcar at the end of the corridor, fires the opening shot through the window at Wax, and waves him through the door to fight on the cars' roofs
- MB2:AoL:Ch 13 Hunts Wax across the train roofs with aluminum revolvers, rips off the mask once shot in the eye fails to drop him, lays out his alloy-of-the-law creed, and is finally launched off the train by a Push transferred through a cartridge he reflexively catches
- MB2:AoL:Ch 18 Survives Wax's dynamite trap with regrown flesh, sets off a stick of dynamite in his own hand to free himself from the nets, then strolls bare-chested through the foundry hall, lecturing the downed Wax on what people of their gifts ought to be doing with them.
- MB2:AoL:Ch 19 Calls his demand for surrender across the foundry hall before Wayne's bubble cuts him off.
- MB2:AoL:Ch 19 Stands a few paces behind Tarson in the tunnel with torches lit, counting down to the order to shoot Marasi.
- MB2:AoL:Ch 19 Beats Wax bloody in the tunnel mud; trapped under Marasi's speed bubble until the constables arrive, then clubbed down, bound, and gagged.
- MB2:AoL:Epilogue Climbs the steps to the restraining pole under contempt for his captors, his metalminds removed.
- MB2:AoL:Epilogue Heals from the first volleys on a hidden Bloodmaker charge, shouts a Trellish foretelling at the firing squad — a coming people in gold and crimson, bearing the last metal — and dies on the fifth volley plus a finishing pistol shot.
- MB2:AoL:Ch 5 Walks the room comparing faces in his hand against sketches, picks Steris with calculated theatrics, then shoots Lord Peterus dead before turning his men loose to shoot up the room
- MB2:AoL:Ch 6 Lingers at the doorway after sending Steris out, locks eyes with Wax across the fight, takes a pistol round to the head — and his body is missing from the entryway minutes later, only blood left behind
Relations
- relatedAugur — Revealed in this chapter as a gold Misting; burning gold shows him the Roughs lawman he was alongside the city operative he has become, each loathing the other. MB2:AoL:Ch 15
