Harmonium
also known as ettmetal
The metal that is the body of Harmony — also called *ettmetal* by the Southerners — combining the substance of both the Shards Harmony holds. Wax has spent years trying to split a nugget of it back into its underlying components without success; it is extraordinarily unstable, must be kept in oil because it reacts to air, and resists melting even at temperatures of several thousand degrees. Known facts
- splittable-into-atium-and-lerasiumWax's electric-current setup gets harmonium closer to dividing than any other method he has tried: as the softened nugget is stretched apart, the left blob takes on the blue-white glow associated with lerasium and the right turns silvery and mercury-smooth like described atium. Cut the current and they collapse back to ordinary harmonium on cooling. VenDell insists the metal cannot be divided so long as Harmony remains Harmony; Wax reads the metal's instability as a mirror of Harmony's own equilibrium between Ruin and Preservation.MB2:TLM:Ch 15
