The Bomb
The single weapon Autonomy designed the Set to build and deliver — large enough that no rocket the engineers could complete in time would lift it. With the launch vehicle abandoned as too small, the bomb itself is moved from the Shaw roof down to the docks and loaded onto a Pewternaut-class warship for delivery to Elendel by sea. MB2:TLM:Ch 66
Known facts
- harmonium-trellium-splitterExamining the three-barrel rig in the warship's hold, Harmony tells Wax and Wayne what the weapon really is: not harmonium reacting with water, which could be safely set off at sea, but harmonium *split with trellium* — a direct transformation of matter into energy of a class neither Autonomy nor her Set has actually tested at this scale. He believes they have severely underestimated its yield. He cannot rule out vaporizing both Elendel and Bilming, with nearby cities, or igniting the atmosphere itself. The bomb cannot be allowed to detonate anywhere.MB2:TLM:Ch 69
- detonated-early-by-wayneWith Wax thrown clear of the warship, a stomach full of bendalloy, and one charge of duralumin from his new Mistborn gift, Wayne sculpts a speed bubble around all three barrels of the dead-man's rig but *not* around the wall device, so that any detonation signal must cross the slow-time boundary to call its siblings. He pours water into each barrel in turn to detonate the harmonium in its smaller water-reaction, Pushing each barrel out of the bubble as it goes. The cumulative blast destroys the heating mechanisms before the harmonium-trellium split reaction can occur. The yield that vapourises both cities never happens; the ordinary harmonium-water blast does, and obliterates the ship.MB2:TLM:Ch 71
