The point of pilgrimage at the end of the logbook — a place high in the Terris mountains where the narrator believes a power waits that can save the world from the Deepness. The pre-Ascension philosophers warned him that the power could be selfishly tainted by whoever first touched it. MB1:TFE:Ch 29

- vin-theorises-initial-burst-creationLying in bed after OreSeur tells her the Lord Ruler made the kandra, Vin constructs a theory of the Well of Ascension's workings: it gave its taker one great burst of creation in which he pushed back the mists, blackened the sun, made the ash fall, and shaped new species — the kandra, probably the koloss, maybe even Allomancers themselves — and that the power then ran out, leaving him only with the Allomancy of an inordinately strong man.
